Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fastest transfers ever - until death I have had two of these units - The second a replacement for the first. I am impressed with the speed these drives achieve. When they remain connected to the computer, they are robust and reliable. HOWEVER - Both drives suffered the same, catastrophic failure. When attempting to move the drive from one machine to another, it randomly shows up as "unformatted" rather than connecting. I was able to run file recovery, so the files were intact even if the directory was toast. I have tried multiple formats, with the same results. Experimentation leads me to believe that disconnecting the drive too quickly is the culprit even though in all cases, the OS said it was safe to do so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not fast(er) - but like the size I like the small size of the hard drive. it is smaller than Ssd from Samsung. But it is not fast as advertised. just "regular speed" of a SSD around 800Mbit...sad!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crucial 10 Pro died in less than 24 hours - Worst SSD ever! I have puchased the Crucial 10 Pro 4TB. It was working very well for 10 hours or so. Then after I restarted my MacBook Pro M3 Max, the SSD would no longer be able to read. It stopped working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would not recommend this to a Mac owner I purchased this drive to use with my 2023 MacBook Pro with the M3 Max Chip. The read and write speeds I get are only about 918 MB/s write and 905 MB/s Read. Far from the advertised speeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy it again and again Since I own a iMac, I did erase and reformatted it. Then it really worked fast. It is so small but quickly saves all sorts of files. Since I don't like paper, I scan in a lot of things and this way I can constantly back-up my computer so I don't lose anything.

I used to use HDDs and these are so much faster at accessing old indexed files (I have ~ 2 TB of data). I use one as a primary and one as a backup and rsync the files between them, and it has been working so far.

I tried it at home before leaving on trip to Scotland and it seemed ok, but within a day of needing it for my trip photos in Scotland it crashed. Luckily I had a spare ScanDisk with me, but the Crucial drive is useless. I'm on a MacBook Pro and was putting my Lightroom travel catalog on the Crucial. Initially it took some photos but forget about editing them on it. The next day I couldn't even download photos to it. I reformatted the drive and also tried a different cable and different usbc port, to no avail. The SanDisk drive worked fine. Also whenever I plugged the drive in, LR crashed. Pretty much sucks. I'm traveling right now, so we'll see how good their warranty and customer service is when I get back.

The other issue is when it is connected to your computer, it reboots super slow, it would hang at the BIOS screen for about 20 seconds before the boot process starts, no other external HDD or SSD gave me such an issue. This was tested on an Alienware m18 new laptop
