Synchronous replication and strong support enhance storage and data protection

What is our primary use case? Our customers' usual use cases for HPE Alletra dHCI are the same as with the Nimble systems: virtualization, storage for business, virtualization with VMware and Hyper-V. What is most valuable? The most valuable features of HPE Alletra dHCI are the synchronous replication, the easy extension for more storage, and its strong support. Data protection is very good, offering features such as virtual lock for snapshots, multi-factor authentication, and encryption for volumes. The solution handles workload variability very well without any performance issues even for demanding applications like SAP, SQL, and Citrix. What needs improvement? I would like the HPE Alletra dHCI to provide options to install products separately. When extending or when servers are already present, normal Alletra systems are more suitable. dHCI projects often require new servers, but flexibility in deployment options would be beneficial. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Alletra for one and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? HPE Alletra dHCI is very stable. I have been working with HPE and Nimble systems for over six years, and Alletra's over two years. We might have encountered only two minor errors, such as a corrupt disk, but the system always runs and we have never had any downtime. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability is rated at eight. It's important because it keeps the costs low for the customer and allows for quick implementations and easy extensions. How are customer service and support? The support is very quick and comfortable. A response typically comes within half an hour to one hour. I once had a problem with updating, and they called me back and fixed it in half a day. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? I rate the initial setup at eight, similar to Nimble's. When it goes well and the firewalls are set up correctly, along with good cloud connections, the process is very quick and smooth. What about the implementation team? We implement the Alletra systems by getting into GreenLake with a subscription and serial numbers. We then install the systems by the customer and connect them to the cloud. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Pricing is rated at six, which is normal. The price is appropriate for the capabilities and features that the customers receive. What other advice do I have? HPE Alletra dHCI is very comfortable with high performance and quick installation. It offers good storage solutions at a reasonable price with excellent support. Effortless upgrades with one-click feature while new server deployment needs a smoother process

What is our primary use case? I have a data center, and all the servers are connected to HPE Alletra dHCI. I use it for data management with VMware running on the servers. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of HPE Alletra dHCI is the one-click upgrade function, which allows all drivers and services to be downloaded to all servers easily. Additionally, the smart deduplication and smart compression features help save a lot of storage. What needs improvement? The deployment of a new server could be improved. I would like to add servers to the existing stack more easily, and there should be a function to reinstall servers with a one-click installation process. The implementation process was problematic due to firmware incompatibilities and lengthy support intervention. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with HPE Alletra dHCI for over one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Initially, the stability was problematic. Now that it is working, it operates fairly well. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability is limited, particularly when adding new servers as the one-click installation procedure is not available for this. Storage options allow for scaling by adding SSD drives, yet the overall scalability score is six out of ten. How are customer service and support? HP technical support deserves a rating of nine. They were always helpful and professional during the resolution of implementing and installation issues. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Prior to using HPE Alletra dHCI, I evaluated Dell, Cisco, and IBM solutions based on ease of management. I chose HPE for its simple management features. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was very challenging due to the long implementation period and issues with firmware compatibility, requiring extensive support from HP. What about the implementation team? HP support was involved heavily in the implementation due to numerous issues that arose. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price of HPE Alletra dHCI is considered expensive for small businesses, however, it is suitable for medium to large companies. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I evaluated Dell, Cisco, and possibly IBM, though IBM was not deemed suitable for medium-sized companies. What other advice do I have? I recommend the product to others if the one-click installation has progressed. However, a recent change log showed several known issues. Overall, I rate HPE Alletra dHCI a six out of ten. Stable, performs well, and provides good reporting

What is our primary use case? HPE Alletra dHCI is the main storage for all our VMware servers. What is most valuable? HPE Alletra dHCI was good because we could have the vVols, which we are using for our production server, with the snapshots. We use their normal data store volume for the rest of our servers. The solution is stable, performs well, and the reporting is good. What needs improvement? We cannot replicate the data in the cloud on a storage other than Nimble. I can tier my data in different storage on the cloud, but I cannot tier the data with HPE Alletra dHCI. I'm stuck with what I have in Nimble. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using HPE Alletra dHCI for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the solution ten out of ten for stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Around 200 employees work with the solution in my organization. We have been adding and extending the storage live with no downtime, and everything was fine. The solution's performance is good. We can scale up. We can scale the tool horizontally or vertically. We can add more servers to HPE Alletra dHCI. The solution is pretty much scalable at will. I rate the solution an eight out of ten for scalability. How are customer service and support? The documentation is good, but when we call for support, it is difficult to get support in French. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The solution's initial setup was straightforward. We installed everything in about three days. Migrating everything takes time, but installing and configuring the hardware takes around one week. One specialist from HPE and two technical people were involved with the product deployment. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution’s pricing was very good. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before choosing HPE Alletra dHCI, we evaluated VMware vSAN and Dell. The last two finalists were HPE Alletra dHCI and VMware vSAN. VMware vSAN was more expensive than HPE Alletra dHCI. What other advice do I have? Two to four people maintain the tool, upgrade it, create the circuit surveys, and monitor it. They are mainly generalists who do VMware admin and server admin. They do a little of everything. The beauty of the solution is that once it's configured, it's all managed by VMware, so they don't have a lot of storage administration to do. The solution's data protection capabilities have really benefited our organization. We have been using the snapshot functionality to restore our server quickly without passing through our backups. We take a snapshot of the VM on the Nimble storage and keep 14 days of that. If we have a problem, we can easily roll back or clone the machine to investigate. So, we have a quick restore. I would recommend the solution to other users because it's stable, provides good performance, and is easy to install and maintain. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. A scalable product that provides zero downtime and enables organizations to manage their infrastructure from a single console

What is our primary use case? We use the solution for our virtual desktop infrastructure. What is most valuable? The product provides zero downtime. HCI is good for tier-2 and tier-3 applications. However, dHCI is the best choice if we are looking for mission-critical applications or VDI on which the end users depend. What needs improvement? The customers do not like to be in a vendor lock-in situation. The solution must be hypervisor-agnostic. The users want some critical applications. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for 20 months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? We get almost 100% uptime. The SLA defined by the customers can be easily met. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product is scalable. It can fulfill the customers’ needs whether they require 16 or 32-node clusters for any mission-critical application. The solution is suitable for enterprise customers. How are customer service and support? The support is good. The solution has a Pointnext team. The team has expertise. They also design, configure, and provide training for the solution. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The product is easy to deploy. Everything is through GUI. We don't have to go on the command line prompt. Everything is automated. The HPE engineers take the remote console and do the basic installation. It takes 10 to 15 working days to configure the tool and hand it over to the project team. We need one architect to design the solution and check whether the API plug-ins are certified or integrated with the solution. The existing infrastructure should be compatible with DSCI. We need one project manager to define the timeline and manage the daily activities. We also need two project engineers. What about the implementation team? It is easy to manage the maintenance of the solution. We hardly get any time downtime. Updates come once in six months or a year. The updates are seamless. We don't require downtime to update or upgrade the patches or fixes. What was our ROI? We get intangible benefits. The application is always on. It enables us to have a highly secure and scalable infrastructure. We have a single console to manage the whole infrastructure. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The product is costly. It is suitable for mission-critical applications. We have the option to pay the license fee every quarter or every year. We have a perpetual license for the software since we use the on-premise solution. We also have to pay for support. What other advice do I have? If an oil and gas company needs built-in applications for Schlumberger, Halliburton, or Yokogawa, it should be available in the tool. NetApp also provides similar features, but I think NetApp has discontinued its product. If someone has mission-critical cases like SAP HANA, Schlumberger, or Halliburton on which the whole organization depends, or if their revenue is connected with the mission-critical applications, they must choose HPE Nimble Storage dHCI. For less critical applications, we can choose HCI. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Excels in performance, configuration, and longevity

What is our primary use case? It is mainly to implement some digitalization in administration or something like that. What is most valuable? In addition to the notary thing of HPE, it is one of the most stable evolving companies. With regards to performance, configuration, and longevity it is upgradeable, which means it has a good TCO rate. These are valuable aspects to me. What needs improvement? Software upgrade is still more complicated than the competitors, so that's an area of improvement. In future releases, HPE can add some advanced features like those we can see on some HP devices like Aruba controllers. They have two modes, although it is still an administration and network-based mode, it has two modes, one enhanced and one basic. Basic, which could be used as a wizard. Most likely to be like a wizard for quick deployment and the advanced to permit more advanced adjustments. So, I would like to see a similar feature in HPE. For how long have I used the solution? We have been with HPE Nimble Storage for four years now. We deal with the latest version. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the stability a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate the scalability a seven out of ten. How was the initial setup? The initial setup's complexity is average because most of the time, we propose or apply for HPE service. We are not alone in installing such a system. In most cases, we buy HPE services. What about the implementation team? In our company, we are integrators. We have five engineers in our technical time. We don't use the label. So, most of the time, we are an integrator. So we sell it to the end customers. We do the basic maintenance. Most of the time, we also buy three to five years of service from HPE. And we also organize support training for our customers or IT personnel in charge. Most of the time, customers also need to be independent. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is expensive. I would rate the licensing model a three out of ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is cheap.
