A reasonably stable product that needs to offer more in-built connectors to users

What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is really easy to have connectors to search for on-prem applications and provide access based on roles. In my company, with the help of the solution, we set up job templates based on the HR data we get, and we also provide IT access, a part that we have included in a matrix based on what type of users we have. What needs improvement? Every connector that you have in the product needs to be custom-built, so there are not a lot of standard connectors available in the product, because of which there are a lot of hidden consultancy costs. Everything in the tool needs to be developed by people who are experts in RSA products, and there is nothing that people who work in-house at a company can do. The aforementioned areas of concern can be considered for improvement in the solution. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle since 2017, which makes it six years of experience. I am a customer of the product. At the moment, my company works with an outdated version of the tool since we are looking at some of the other solutions offered in the market, especially the ones that can be deployed on the cloud, as we want the product to offer us a lot of cloud access. The version of the product we have in our company is not compatible anymore. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. Speaking about the scalability of the solution, a user needs to think out of the box since there is not always a very straightforward solution available that you can just connect to any application since, at times, a user may have to take a side road to get to that point. Around 4,000 people, consisting of planning officers and people from customer care and finance departments, were using the solution in my company. My company used to use the solution daily for the life cycle management of our IT accounts. Every new change happens or gets created automatically every day. How are customer service and support? The problem with the support team stems from the fact that my company is in the northern part of Europe, while the support we get is from India, because of which there is a gap between connections. I rate the technical support a three out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Negative How was the initial setup? I rate the product's initial setup phase a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy. The product's initial setup phase is a bit complex since you need to have a certain level of experience in SQL, so it's not for everyone within the business to handle its setup phase. My business partner and I, who used to run the product, were fine, but we had another colleague who wasn't used to programming, like using the queries and searches. The solution is deployed on an on-premises model with the help of SAP and Active Directory. I can't really tell the time taken to deploy the solution because it was done by my ex-colleague with whom I had implemented it while we were in service so that knowledge is now with my other colleague. What about the implementation team? The tool's deployment was taken care of by a consultant who became a part of our company's in-house team. What was our ROI? Everything that is automated with the tool will always deliver business value. With the tool in place, you need to hire fewer people to provide access, and you have control over your processes. You won't have open accounts that should be locked anymore, which makes life easier, especially in terms of providing access while handling my other ongoing projects. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I rate the product's price a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. For the kind of solution that it is, I would say that the prices are on the lower side of the spectrum, but you need to pay a lot of consultancy fees. My company used to pay 30,000 EUR a year based on the users in our company. Which other solutions did I evaluate? After an evaluation process was carried out in my company, we have decided to move to SailPoint. My company chose SailPoint over RSA since we faced a lot of trouble finding new consultants to support us within Europe. RSA's experts are all based in India these days, and my company feels that they are not on the same page as SailPoint, especially when it comes to providing access to cloud applications. Every connector in RSA needs to be built separately, while with SailPoint, we see that a lot of the connectors we want exist within the product, meaning the connectors are a part of the product and just need to be configured. What other advice do I have? Two of the members of our company's in-house team and a consultant for support were required to take care of the maintenance phase of the product. I rate the overall tool a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Easy data collection tool that lacks many features and customization options

What is our primary use case? I use this solution for joiners/movers/leavers along with the add-back, role-based access control, and certification. What is most valuable? The data collection is excellent and easy to do. It does not require a lot of configuration nor does it require rules to be written like other competitors do. What needs improvement? This product is missing a lot of features which other competitors are providing. One of the key features that are missing right now is risk scoring. Additionally, there is not much scope for customization - everything is hard-coded and predefined, so it does not allow the developers to make many modifications. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I think the solution is stable for the most part with occasional performance issues. In my opinion, it is not meant for larger companies. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is quite easy to scale. How are customer service and support? I was working on a very critical project involving cluster deployment and needed RSA technical support to help us configure the cluster in our environment for on-premise. They assigned two engineers. One was not available until the last moment even though we contacted them nearly one month in advance. For that whole month, we were not told what we needed for the update, then just one day before the actual upgrade, they came out and said that they require physical access, a CD to be inserted in the data center, etc. Our project ended up being delayed as a result. The other engineer, in the middle of the upgrade, told us he was not sure what kind of architecture we were using. Support needs to improve their communication and efficiency as a whole. How was the initial setup? Setup is straightforward and takes a team of roughly five members three to four months to complete depending on the size of the environment. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Competitors include SailPoint, CyberArk, 300, and Clarity. What other advice do I have? It is important to note that this solution runs on Oracle database only. So, even if your organization already has a database, they will still need to purchase another one. This also would require them to get a separate team of Oracle experts. Additionally, there is no automatic load or failback process. Overall this solution is best for a customer without many advanced tools within their environment who do not require integration with identify management. A reliable solution with some technical flaws that need to be addressed

What is our primary use case? We use this solution to automate lifecycle governance and for role-based access control administration. Within our organization, there are 50,000 active users, using this solution. What is most valuable? The governance aspect in general is great. What needs improvement? This solution lacks a closed-loop, which causes issues. If on one day (by a single user) multiple requests as submitted, it won't calculate them correctly. Another feature we would like to see out of the box is the preventive segregation of duties. These are two features that could greatly help a business. Also, the user interface could be slightly improved. What's very good about the product is that they understand the difference between target environments (like an active directory), and business applications running on it. There are identity and access management vendors who don't know the difference between the target systems and the business applications that run on it. SailPoint, for example, they believe that the most fine-grained owner is on the active directory, but that's not the case. On an active directory, if you look at a bank, for example, there can be a mortgage application and a credit card application and then loan applications with different owners. That is known by the RSA, but the UI is a bit cumbersome. You have to hop from one tab to the other to find complete overviews of what you are looking for. So that could be better. And the reporting coming out of it, that could also be better. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for roughly 10 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is pretty stable. If you don't factor the performance into the stability, then it's stable, it doesn't crash or collapse. But the performance is not the best. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability could be better. I think that big companies with lots of roles and membership connections will experience some issues. How are customer service and technical support? The technical support could be better. If you submit an issue, you shouldn't be surprised if it takes them a long time to get back to you. How was the initial setup? Overall, deployment took us one year — everything included. Basic deployment is just plug-and-play, but then you have to define workflows, forms, processes. So the technical deployment is easy, it's piece of cake. And that's with most products. But I know from the SailPoint products, for example, is that you need lots of BeanShell code to deploy it because, out of the box, it doesn't do anything. But with the RSA product, although the deployment is easy, you still have to convert your old administration into the new, and we use the .Net application, Homegrown, and that has to be converted to the tool; proper workflows need to be designed and then, all-in-all, a year. We also had the help of an integrator. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I don't know the price off the top of my head, but I do know that it's not an expensive product. There are many more expensive products on the market, so the pricing is good. Whether you should use this solution or not depends on the size of your company. If you are a mid-sized company, who's also in the middle range of being mature or not, then you could go for this product. I work in a global company, we are in 45 countries and we earn lots of money so we can afford highly-trained personnel. But if you're a mid-sized company, then your finances are also a bit mid-sized. So for those companies who are not that complex, then financially-wise, it's a good product. What other advice do I have? On a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of six. Good security with OTP support, but integration with Oracle is missing

What is our primary use case? We are a solution provider and this is one of the products that we implement for our clients. I have helped to deploy this solution to two customers so far. The primary use case is the addition of another layer of authentication for users to access the network. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is the security, in particular, the One Time Password support. What needs improvement? Better integration with other solutions such as Oracle Database is needed. Currently, some SQL databases cannot be integrated with RSA. Technical support in Pakistan can be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle for between four and five months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability is generally good. We have experienced bugs but RSA has provided patches for them. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have had no problems with scalability. How are customer service and technical support? The technical support is generally good, although in Pakistan it could use some improvement. Overall, I would say that product support is average. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have worked with other solutions and I find that RSA is more mature than similar products by Fortinet and Cisco. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward and it is definitely easy to deploy. That said, there are some complexities in the setup that are inherent to any security product. The length of time for deployment depends on how many devices you are trying to integrate with. One of my deployments involved 2,500 users with 500 devices, and it took between 20 and 25 days to complete. What other advice do I have? RSA Security is a pain in the butt

We sent several emails. They says they "will respond within 24-48 hours" Then, they close the ticket and so not answer a minimum. Ridiculous!

The setup admin guide is spot on but the installation could be more flexible.

Valuable Features It allows users to authenticate using two-factor authentication, which is becoming more and more of a regulatory requirement. Improvements to My Organization It has streamlined the process of authentication, which has resulted allows for less calls to our Service Desk/SOC for password resets. Room for Improvement It could be a little more flexible with the installation of the product. Only virtual Linux environements for hardware appliances are allowed for a deployment. Use of Solution I have been using this version for over a year. Deployment Issues There was a minor issue with getting the replica to attach. We worked through the issue and it's now functioning. Stability Issues Never - one thing I can say about RSA is that the boxes are stable and solid. With an attached replica, it also allows for peace of mind. Scalability Issues Our license allows for one primary instance and 15 replica's, so the answer is no. It's scalable and works very well at doing this. Customer Service and Technical Support Customer Service: I have never had an issue with RSA's customer service, they're an easy 4/5. Technical Support: Very good. Everyone I have spoken to when a ticket needs opening, has been excellent at guiding me towards a resolution and does solid work with the knowledge transfer. Previous Solutions Yes - we have been using since version 6.1 and the switch was made due to RSA calling EOL on all versions previous to 8.1. Initial Setup Very straightforward as the setup admin guide is spot on and one of the best I have ever used/encountered. Implementation Team I am RSA Certified so I handle all implementations of RSA in-house. ROI The real ROI will happen when we implement the on-demand token code portion within the next year. Pricing, Setup Cost and Licensing The cost initially, if using hardware appliances will run around $10,000. That's with a base license (primary/replica), and also includes the cost of about 50 tokens. Other Solutions Considered No other options were evaluated. Other Advice If possible, hire someone to manage the installation that has a solid concept of what they're doing. Be sure to have them meet with all the teams that will need to authenticate so that all the proper connections are made from the implementation of the product.
