It is more about delivery configuration, and for security, we use Akamai WAF security controls and Botman. How has it helped my organization? Akamai Ion helps protect us from DOS, SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and scraping tools. Real-time analytics are very helpful for analyzing traffic or fetching logs for certain IPs. It has a single interface where I can do everything, control everything, and see everything, reducing hassle. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is bot management. Akamai Ion is a reliable tool for defending against website scrapers when no other tools are available. What needs improvement? Log management should display data for more than two months. The traffic report needs to be more flexible. The response time of technical support should be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Akamai Ion for more than six months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability is rated eight out of ten. There are no significant drops or shutdowns, but there are some glitches with downloading reports or viewing traffic. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability is rated eight out of ten. Akamai Ion handles HTTP version upgrades and domain hosting effectively. How are customer service and support? The technical support is prompt, but improvements can be made to understand issues more quickly and respond faster. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I did not use a different solution for these use cases before Akamai Ion. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was quite difficult. It's complicated to configure for the first time. Many components are intertwined between the front end and the back end. What about the implementation team? I have not deployed it myself as it was already deployed when I started working. I will work on improvements. What was our ROI? The services and solutions provided by Akamai Ion, including delivery configuration, provide significant value by offering a centralized interface for managing everything. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The billing cycle is monthly, however, payment is done yearly. While expensive, it provides value for the services offered. Which other solutions did I evaluate? The solution was already in place when I joined the organization. What other advice do I have? If you have a use case involving delivery configuration and securing traffic on your website and applications, Akamai Ion is a good investment. It provides oversight and control. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Public Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? We ensure that all our production domains are rooted in Akamai to improve the customer experience by shortening the lag time. We ensure that all our static content is also available for faster delivery and stored at Akamai. We also use NetStorage. What is most valuable? Akamai has one of the best CDNs. What needs improvement? The product must provide more flexibility. There are not too many permutations and combinations that we could do using Ion. The product used to provide Image Compression before. It is not a bundled product anymore. It was a good feature. The feature must provided in future releases. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The tool is quite stable. I rate the stability a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I rate the tool’s scalability an eight out of ten. We did not have issues with the scalability. How are customer service and support? I have a 24/7 dedicated team for technical support. It's been quite good. It’s been two years since we started using support. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The deployment process was very simple. We also received support from Akamai. We could integrate Akamai into our IT infrastructure seamlessly. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I rate the pricing a four out of ten. The tool is expensive. The pricing must be optimized. Which other solutions did I evaluate? The product has multiple competitors like CloudFront. Akamai stands out in the competition. Akamai is easy to use and very effective. What other advice do I have? I'm heading the information security department. We have procured Ion from Akamai. All my domains are getting rooted through Akamai Ion. I will recommend the solution to others.
