Fantastic camera
I got the FX3 as a b-cam for my FX9 and for gimbal work. The dual ISO is AMAZINGLY clean at 800 and 12800. The downside is the menus. Sony seems to go out of their way to make them as complex as possible. Still, I truly love this camera.

Fabulous Image
Classic Sony design which I have loved from even before the days of the Sony Walkman. This is an object of desire. I love the form factor. This is perfect for any filmmaker who is looking for an unobtrusive camera which does not intimidate people.
It is chameleon like. It can be stripped down - like I use it - or built up to a fully blown cinema rig. The images coming from this are just beautiful and when "set correctly" it has a close to filmic quality. It is for no reason that the genius DP Mark Ping Bing Lee told me he loves the images he can make from the Sony cameras and urged me to consider these cameras.
The one thing I would have liked is true 24p.
Regardless, I would highly recommend the Sony FX3.

I don’t write reviews
The Sony FX3 makes me want to always take it out and shoot and it helps that the image coming from this thing is so remarkable. Fingers crossed for that shutter angle update and this camera will literally have everything I need but even if it doesn’t this camera is beautiful and a true work horse for videographers and filmmakers

Great camera although I am not a pro
I love this camera it’s my 5th same one I buy and sell ! I am not a professional photographer but I love to buy the best . Been ill for the last three months but as soon as I get well I will go back to learn how to use it as I’ve watched many YouTube movies . I’ve used it maybe 15 minutes but later I will use it as I bought 8 Lenses but it needs time to learn . But I highly recommend this camera if you can spend the money . Since years I’ve been buying SONY and have other cameras . You can try it if in 30 days you do not like it you can return it just read the return policy that they do not have restocking fee as some has . But from all reviews I read where positive can’t say any negative just perfect.

Camera Overheats
Camera started overheating in less then 1 hour of on and off filming in 20C conditions, I don't believe this is normal. Bought from Vistek, seems I am not the only one having this issue. The FX9 FX6 and FX3 Facebook group has many people mentioning the FX3 is overheating fast in less then one hour, Maybe a recall or firmware update needed on this? Other then that the camera video quality is great.

Complex & powerful but lacks timely tech support
Sony tech support is a call back system which can easily take 24 hours, so there is no timely tech support for urgent concerns. This is a serious liability when using a camera as complex as an FX3 for professional production.

Entry Level Excellence
I switched to Sony three years ago with the A7, which had been out for awhile, and then to the A7RII, but I must say the FX3 is blowing me away. The low light performance and new color science is enough said, but then Sony upgraded the menu and all I can say is it's all you need in a compact cinema camera. Some people have complained about the handle size, but my hands are small and it feels just right. The only thing I am trying to figure out right now is how I import and view the hi-res files once they are on my computer, this may have something to do with registration. Either way, the FX3 was a purchase I'm glad I got, so far.

Amazing
My first cinema camera and I couldn’t be happier. Love the features, the looks, everything. 4K 120 is a game changer. I’m really looking forward to slowly building it out, cage, wood handle, rails, matbox, dtap battery, ninja v+, are just some of the awesome upgrades I plan on doing. All in good time.

A great Camera, but!
4 months of use of the FX3, its sent back to Sony for repairs. Memory card slots won't accept any memory card, turning on bluetooth or wifi sends the camera into system error. I am now without my camera and don't know when it will be fixed and returned to me.
As a previous owner of the sony a7s3 I went all out with the purchase of the new FX3 with sony gm2 24-70, 70 - 200 glass for my professional works. The video quality that comes out from this camera was superb. I never had any complains from my clients on the night images. I would have to knock off 3 stars on the camera because of the unfortunate issue of the cameras epic failure, especially in the middle of an important shoot. I believe sony could do better with quality issues.

Not sure about this one!
I am a new owner / user of an FX3. I bought it recently as a B camera to my FX6, and have not put it though its paces yet. But personally speaking, my initial thoughts are very mixed! First of all it feels expensive to me. The rear screen feels quite flimsy and would be easy to damage in a moment of hasty run-and-gun absentmindedness, and the XLR handle being plastic just doesn't feel like the premium quality I would like on a £4k camera. Image wise it gets some lovely footage of course, and an advantage over the FX6 is the more flexible codec options and the IBIS. I do love the finish on it and the aesthetics of it as an item.
I can’t get past the lack of EVF yet though. I went in with my eyes open to this, in the sense that I ideally wanted that but was happy to go ahead without one. But I still can’t get used to it! I can live without it on the FX6 as you can position the monitor towards the front of the camera, and hold the camera up high still, but to me the FX3 just feels a bit too much like a stills camera, but without some of the advantages they can offer such as EVF and high Rez stills. You can't please everyone though! Maybe I am being fussy. There is no perfect camera :)
There is no doubt it can get incredible footage quality, which let’s face it is the main thing, but it is a very difficult toss up between this and the A7S3 in my opinion . ND’s would be on my wishlist for it too. And a physical mode dial would be nice.

A versatile and convenient beast
A number of features made this camera appealing to me as a solo-shooter. Most notably the good battery life, flip out screen, autofocus, lowlight capabilities, compact design and memory recall pre-sets . I’ve come from the BMPCC 4K which although has the best image quality I’ve ever owned, it’s inconvenient for my style of work due to bad battery life, file sizes and big(ger) body. The FX3 ticks all the boxes if you’re doing a lot of the work by yourself. It’s reliable and very portable. I pretty much only use the 24-70mm Gmaster lens for my work, and its versatility has saved me a lot of time. I already owned a Sony Tough V90 as card which came in handy. This is the first Sony camera I’ve ever owned, and I took a gamble as it an expensive camera no doubt. However, I think it’s a good introduction to Sony‘s cinema line, and I can see myself upgrading to the FX6/FX9 in the future.
The only thing that I wish this camera had was built-in ND filters, which Sony really should have included at this price point, but it’s not a huge deal.
Overall it’s a great camera and I love how small it is. Saves me time and money from heavily rigging it up like I used to do with my BMPCC 4K (although I still recommend buying a cage for the FX3 as the multiple mounting threads on the body are not good enough)

Small, simple with a wealth of possibilities
The FX3 is a fantastic camera, with a great, robust body housing nearly everything I need to work as an solo shooter. The top handle with XLR ports is really what made me choose this over the AS7iii and I've not been disappointed - it allows me greater control over the audio of what I'm filming and means I don't have to worry about a tonne of add-ons to carry the audio equipment. The build quality is great, the features matching my work needs and I'm looking forward to getting to know this camera more.

Beautiful image quality and auto focus!
I cannot fault the image quality that comes out of this camera considering its size! Its colours are beautiful and Sony Cine Style preset is a brilliant preset which I use often especially if I know I don't need to match to other cameras. Also the autofocus and touch track focus feature is incredible and makes life so easy when tracking subjects whilst walking with them or just moving in focal plans. However, I do miss the viewfinder! I didn't think I would but the screen is very small and not bright enough when outside! This can regularly become a problem. I also think it needs more horseshoe mounts as once the audio handle is on, you aren't left with any room for anything else. A horseshoe mount on top of the handle and/or on the side would solve this.

Fantastic
I’m a filmmaker who is dyslexic. I had been working with the Sony A7iii. Which I loved. But as it’s a stills focused camera it’s menus system was difficult for me. The FX3 has a straight forward menus. I do miss the EVF. Please bring out an EVF accessory. The camera body is tactile and the mounting points are life saver as I don’t use a cage.

Best Cinema Camera on its level
Nothing to complain about, instead a beautiful compact well built camera.
The menu itself shows how intelligent the camera is, and not to mention the S-Cinetone to mimic the Venice Camera.
Well done Sony

Wonderful..but purchased from a very bad company M
After a dud was sent to me by MPB, I got a replacement with version 2.02..clearly they didn't risk updating because apart from a damaged one, I think they jumped.from 2.02 to 3..which on your website is a big no no. Anyway.Got the replacement and updated it properly.
It's a marvel, so ergonomically comfortable, and it's quality is second to none. Astonishing functionality, versatile, easy to navigate, in short..its a near pocket sized miracle. As a professional who has only ever used Sony products, this goes with me everywhere.
For me it's more user friendly than the FX6,
better with codecs, and it's convenience means it's a constant companion everywhere. Already being used in my work, it's an absolute wonder. I have a quality variable ND filter, so this isn't really an issue for me, and the reduction in size is worth it.
