APC AP9827 Simple Signaling UPS Cable Adapter is rated 1.80 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't Work! Using a Synology NAS I attempted to use this cable to get my BR1500 APC UPS to signal a power outage. The cable is NOT a direct USB to RJ45 conversion and no signal is received by the NAS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overpriced I bought this item for much much less through a GSA distributor. But even that price was more than I think it's worth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 40$ for a simple usb cable no way I have seen the truth of this cable by literally soldering a usb lead to the control pcb inside my two used apc back ups pro 1500's bought for battery size mods and yes this is just a standard usb cable with an rj50 (10 pin is NOT rj45 as rj45 has a max of 8 pins) plug on the end. 8x the price of a non proprietary cable equivalent is unacceptable. Even if it includes shipping I would only pay 10$ for a cable like this as a prosumer please don't copy the worst parts of apple and expect your users to not be upset side note if this was 10$ I would pay for 2 of them right now as I dislike my janky usb lead sticking out of the units I have

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NO technicals I am unimpressed with this level of support. Why not a simple schematic for such a simple cable? When in Timbuktu, I cannot wait for a new factory one - as nice as that might be. Box lable says Serial /USB so what can I hook it to? Notes say not to use external USB adapter but what if it's powered from the same AC? No manual for the PowerChute SW so no help there. Even a detailed tech manual for the UPS connectors would be nice - no cigar - clearly in only the selling biz, not the support biz too - ONE star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from $40 USB cable The cable works fine, but the price is completely ridiculous. Most other UPS brands have a USB connection on their UPS so you can just use any old USB cable. However APC uses the very rare 10 pin RJ50 connector on the end of an otherwise standard USB cable and increases the price by 400%. Ridiculous. This is enough reason to look to other UPS brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from APC UPS Data Cable / USB Type A to 10P10C/RJ50 For the benefit of others, I recently purchased this data cable to connect an APC Back-UPS ES 500 (model BE500U) to Apple iMac running macOS El Capitan 10.11.6. Works as intended. As soon as cable is plugged in the UPS tab will appear in Energy Saver Settings under Apple System Preferences. If the UPS continues to beep, it likely just needs a new replacement battery (in this case, an APC RBC2 or equivalent). Please note that the modular connector on the cable is not an RJ45 8-pin (8P8C) connector, but rather a 10-pin (10P10C) connector, unofficially known as RJ50. You cannot use a USB to Ethernet RJ-45 cable as a substitute. As this product is no longer available via the links on this page, you can find one on eBay or elsewhere on the web, and not for nothing, at a much more appropriate cost point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from $40 for cable?! $40?!!! You probably kidding, right? It took me 15 minutes to cut the end of the USB cable and solder it directly to the back of the jack inside the device. All you need just internet to see pin outs. Good luck selling air!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick & easy This was a straight-forward order of basic accessories, so not much to say.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wrong advise. I never ended up using it. While in the prosses of trying to install new film wear, I had a warning pop up to tell me it needed to be updated and it gave me a link to do it wirelessly. So now can I return the old new cable that I never used???.
